We are happy to announce we have adopted a new child in need. :-) Her name is Safieta and she comes from Burkina Faso. Her village is relatively close to the main city: Ouagadougou. Although she is little, she helps her family in their daily efforts to survive. Her hobby is playing with cans.
Safieta’s parents are illiterate farmers who fight for the lives of their three kids along with their own. Her father - Rasmane - born in 1964, tries to protect the family by all means. However, the unfavourable weather conditions and the land’s poverty go against the family’s strong spirit. The cultivation of corn, sorghum and millet has proven to be rather challenging. The family sleeps in a house covered only with metal sheets that are quite unstable during storms. The few hens and goats the family breeds alleviate their food concerns only partially. Safieta’s mother - Korotimi - born in 1988, sells cakes in order to earn more money for the family, but unfortunately this only covers their very basic needs. The brother of Safieta - Sayouba (2009) - is the only happy family member who attends primary school. Their bigger sister - Aguera (2006) could not attend school.
In reality, Safieta’s family hardy makes both ends meet. Their primary meal is Tô, that is cereal with vegetable sauce. Safieta’s parents need support to feed the whole family and provide Safieta with the opportunity to get education.
